Papa Nero beach

Located in eastern Pelion next to the beach of Agios Ioannis and the village of the same name. The beach owes its unusual name to a spring flowing nearby, where, according to legend, a priest choked many years ago (Papa Nero is translated from Greek as “priest water”).

Beach description

The beach is a pretty long shoreline (about a kilometre), rugged with small bays and covered with coarse sand mixed with small shells. The bottom is also sandy, sometimes there are areas with small pebbles. It's pretty shallow near the shore, the water is turquoise, perfectly transparent.

The beach is very well maintained and clean, equipped with everything you need and awarded by the Blue Flag. Here you can curl up under the canopy of a beach bed, play beach volleyball on one of the numerous sports playgrounds, take a ride on water attractions, swim and dive to your heart's desire in the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea.

Children will be able to have fun on waterslides and trampolines, and for the little kids you can rent inflatable pools, rubber rings and mattresses.

Another important factor that attracts tourists here is a large, well-organized camping site. Here you can spend the night in a tent, trailer and even in a boat, use the kitchen, showers and bathrooms, get access to free Internet. On the territory, there are many bars and restaurants, a mini-market and a laundry room. Pets are allowed.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Another guest house located close to the beach is Niriides Apartment. Surrounded by a beautiful garden with access to the terrace, there is a barbecue area. There is free Internet access and satellite TV. Private rooms are equipped with individual kitchens. Pets allowed.

Pelion Orama is a popular apart-hotel located in a three-minutes walk from the beach. Guests can count on comfortable rooms with sea views, excellent service and friendly attentive attitude. When checking in, a compliment from the owners is offered in the form of homemade sweets and navel. All apartments are equipped with individual kitchens, there is free Wi-Fi.
