Katigeorgios beach

Katigeorgios is a small beach in a picturesque bay next to the village of the same name, located on the southeastern outskirts of Pelion. Village houses and coastal taverns are located literally next to the very beach coast.

Beach description

The shore is quite narrow and instead of renting loungers here you can sit in the cafes. But many people prefer to find a convenient place on the sand, closer to the sea. Wide area of shallow waters, the protection of the bay from the winds, the lack of large waves and the proximity of civilization have made Katigeorgios one of the best places in the area for family holidays with children. You can't count on any special entertainment here, so young people are rarely attracted to this beach.

The shore is covered with soft fine sand, but there are pebbles and large boulders in the water. There are not many people on the shore of Katigeorgios, except for those times when crowds of tourists are brought here by cruise boats. The village itself is famous for its fishing industry, it has enough taverns of this profile, and the bay is full of fishing boats.

There is always an opportunity to diversify the beach leisure time by renting a boat and admiring these picturesque places from the sea. You can also go to the neighbouring village of Leary and visit the Mourtia, the most picturesque beach in Thessaly, which is located nearby.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
