Beach description

Located in the center of Rio de Janeiro's two most popular beaches-Copocabana and Ipanema, Arpoador beach is easily accessible from the city center by bus, taxi or Bicycle. If you want to get there on foot-walk along Ipanema beach on Avenida Vieira Souto and you will end up on the spot.

Arpoador Beach is a small stretch of sand and rock with stunning views of Ipanema and Leblon. This is an ideal place for surfing, as the ocean drives to the shore high crest waves that are present on the water surface constantly. The fact is that this beach is located at the southernmost point of Ipanema beach, so the view here covers 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) of the coast and Morro Dois Irmaos Hill (Two Brothers Hills) to the west of it. Many come here especially to watch the sun go down over the dramatic silhouettes of double peaks. There is even a local tradition: the sunset is so picturesque that immediately after the completion of this natural action, the crowd burst into applause, as if after the performance.

The infrastructure of the beach and the surrounding urban areas is well developed. There are more than eight rescue stations and equipped sports courts on the beach. There are tents, cafes and bars where you can eat and refresh yourself. For true gourmets, fashionable restaurants will always open their doors, which will serve authentic dishes from the best chefs in Rio de Janeiro.   1. To the left of the cliffs of Arpoador there is another beach called Devil's Beach (Praia do Diabo). In some guides to Rio it is not singled out as a separate site, considering it a continuation of Arpoador. In others, they represent it as a separate beach. More importantly, this quiet and secluded place with calm waters is perfect for those who want peace and quite. This corner is a "pool" for a family holiday among the bustling beaches of Rio de Janeiro. It offers magnificent views of the mountains called Sugarloaf, Fort Copacabana and Corcovado.
  2. Surfers who swim without an instructor should get back to the beach after dark when the floodlights installed along the beach light up.
  3. The most advantageous position for admiring sunsets on the beach is rock formations in the eastern part. The foot of the cliff is equipped with floodlights, so that even during the dark, vacationers will comfortably move along uneven surfaces.
  4. Near the beach, the small city park of Garota de Ipanema overlooking Cape Arpoador spreads out. You can visit it before or after relaxing on the beach.
