Pipa beach

Pipa Beach is one of the most famous Brazilian beaches in the north-east of the country, which is especially popular among kitesurfers. It is not surprising that its name translates as “Kite Beach”, although initially the area had other names that no less eloquently characterize the local landscapes - “Painted Cliff” and “Cape Verde”. The beach is located in Tibau do Sul, near the town of Natal, on the outskirts of the fishing village of Pipa.

Beach description

The Pipa coast became popular in the late 1970s, when a beach with excellent conditions for extreme recreation on the water was discovered by surfers near a fishing village. A rare combination of maximum of attractive amenities for recreation quickly made this coast popular among the fans of water extreme.

Pipa Beach is distinguished by:

  • crystal clear warm waters ideal for diving;
  • very fine light sand on the shore and bottom of the sea;
  • high, 10 metre cliffs surrounding the coast;
  • huge strong waves and stable winds all year round, attracting experienced kiters and surfers

But when swimming here you should not forget about the presence of strong underwater currents. That's why the Pipa Beach is a paradise for young people who are fond of extreme water sports, but not the best place for family holidays (and especially with children). The long shoreline of the beach is normally not crowded, but this Brazilian beach can be fairly called a cosmopolitan one – there're tourists from different countries. The southern edge of the beach is most suitable for surfing.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to visit Brazil – is in spring and autumn. During this period, mild and dry weather reigns here. In winter, there is heat and heavy rains. And in the summer (from June to August) the lowest temperatures are recorded in the country.
