General Beaches
General beaches are several dozens of separated bays with soft sand, majestic cliffs, warm and clear water. The local picture is accompanied by grottoes, rock slabs, huge boulders scattered along the shore. It is a perfect place to relax from hustle and bustle, enjoy the wildlife, recover after difficult and hard work.

General Beaches are the 26-kilometer sandy shore, consisting of hundreds of isolates bays. In each of them there are majestic cliffs, huge boulders, beautiful landscapes and a smooth set of depth. Local sea is clean, shallow and very warm. You can swim in it in the middle of May.
Until the collapse of the USSR, this place was under the jurisdiction of the air force. Constructing was prohibited here, and the coast itself was closed to civilians. As a result, General Beaches preserved their original appearance and avoided the harmful effects of human.
In the Soviet times, only senior military had vacation here. It was in honor of them that the beaches got their unusual name. Nowadays this place is available for everyone. It attracts lovers of wildlife and quiet relaxation. Families, yoga practitioners, followers of esoteric teachings, nudists come here. Thanks to separation of bays and a large number of them, vacationers do not interfere with each other at all.
One more advantage of the General Beaches is a perfect ecology. There is no highway, big cities, industrial factories near them. Cleanliness reigns along the entire coast (albeit not ideal), and local waters are as clear as possible in the former USSR. A nice bonus are lively birds and colorful insects that live in the nearby grass.
Despite the "wildness" of the beach, there is a lot of attractions here. Little children can swim, build castles of stones and sand, collect beautiful shells. Adults explore the bays and grottoes, dive underwater with scuba gear, climb rocks, walk along the coast, take photos and enjoy each other. Near the beach there are many convenient places for installing a brazier.
Due to the remoteness from civilization, the General Beaches are not crowded. In weekdays you can count a separate bay as only for you and your friends. On weekends, residents of nearby cities come here, but there is still plenty of space.
Advice for parents: do not leave children without attention or choose safe place for them. There are many grottoes and high cliffs. In addition, there is no rescuer on the 26-kilometer shore at all.
You can climb the local mountains without climbing equipment (but only for adults). Hiking trails lead to some peaks. Quite dangerous fauna lives near the beach: poisonous spiders, snakes, tarantulas. You are unlikely to face these creatures, but for peace of mind it is better to take a first-aid kit with antiallergenic drugs.
When is better to go?
Weather conditions in Crimea depend on the place where you will rest: while on the south coast it is relatively warm and humid, then in other places it can be cooler and drier. The period between late May and the first half of July inclusive is considered the ideal time for a trip when the air and sea have already warmed up (23-25 degrees), but the real heat has not yet come. If you prefer warmer weather, pick out the second half of July or early August.

Infrastructure
Within a radius of 20 km from the beaches there are several pensions. These are family establishments, which offer spacious rooms and 3 or 5 meals a day. In some of them there are gyms, SPA centers, water slides and cozy cafes. There are volleyball, football and tennis courts, sunbathing areas with comfortable sunbeds, clean beaches and well-kept gardens.
On the General Beaches there are no toilets and other amenities. There are no trees either, you can hide from the sun only under a sun umbrella, which you brought in the car. To come such place you should take care of fresh water (local springs often dry out), food, medicines, firewood. The only attraction is rent of boats (they can be borrowed from local residents, if you can agree).
Beaches are located 26 km to north from Kerch. You can get here only be personal transport. Local roads are not so good, so if possible rent wear-resistant SUV.

Near the General Beaches the ruins of an ancient city are located. There sanctuaries with sacrificial tables were preserved, and the foundations of the walls and buildings, a necropolis with funerary plates of the 4th-3rd centuries BC as well.
Several kilometers from the shore Chikrak is located - lake with healing dirt formed from hydrogen sulfide sources. Its silt deposits are used to treat the following ailments:
- spinal diseases;
- nervous and urinary system;
- vascular disease;
- fractures.
The dirt accelerates the recovery of the organism and the rehabilitation, cleanse the body of harmful substances. Important: Chokrak dirt is contraindicated for people with heart diseases, asthma, and tuberculosis. They can be kept on the body for no more than 15 minutes. Improper treatment can lead to poor health and well-being.
