Serebryany beach
The first thing which vacationers should know is that locals name this beach Blizhny as it is the nearest beach from the city itself on walking distance. In Balaklava itself there is no beach at all - everything is dignified and classified there. Serebryany beach was named by resorters due to pebble color which shimmers with silver-gray shades. There is an ancient name of the beach - Mikro-Yailo (small coast). However to say the truth, the beach is not so small – it is quite long and vast in comparison with other local beaches.

Beach description
This place is especially beloved by residents and tourists. It is located just 20 minutes walking from Balaklava bay, which is quite near, according to local measures. The entire shore is filled with tents, so if you have tourist equipment too - bring it with you. It is surrounded by mountains from all sides, that slide right into the depths of the sea.
The cleanest mountain air mixed with the sea breeze creates a special healing microclimate. It occupies quite wide are - the arc of the Serebryany beach stretches for 400 m along the bay. As it is located on the open and well washed area, in windy weather the beach is not protected from waves, and water is cooler here.
The Serebryany beach as most mountain beaches of Sevastopol is an are with fine pebble and there are just some spots with large sand. Entry to the sea is complicated by stones that come across already at a depth of one and a half meters. The depth also begins almost immediately, so this is not the best beach for vacation with young children. On the one hand, this disadvantage turns with additional advantage: rocky bottom is a guarantee of clear water and absence of seaweed. Thanks to good visibility, vacationers can enjoy snorkeling with fins and a mask, exploring the local underwater flora and fauna.
When is the best time to go?
Weather conditions in Crimea depend on the place where you will rest: while on the south coast it is relatively warm and humid, then in other places it can be cooler and drier. The period between late May and the first half of July inclusive is considered the ideal time for a trip when the air and sea have already warmed up (23-25 degrees), but the real heat has not yet come. If you prefer warmer weather, pick out the second half of July or early August.

Infrastructure
Any beach in Balaklava bay is not distinguished by high level of tourist infrastructure. Serebryany is not an exception. For vacationers, among amenities just plastic sun loungers and awnings, at an additional cost, are available. So you better bring sunscreen and panama hat with you.
In case you come by personal car, a wide umbrella will be useful, as the beach is rocky and there is no natural shadow on it. Bring fresh water with you, since in the only a beach outlet you risk buying a bottle at a record high price. Among other infrastructure objects in summer season dry toilets are installed, and there are changing rooms, and on a boulder in the center of the beach a rescue post is organized.
Do not count on housing right somewhere by the water – the nearest hotel is 1.5 km away.

- In beach season, regular cutters run from Nazukin embarkment to Serebryany and Zolotoy beaches. The sea trip takes 15 and 30 minutes, respectively. You can get there walking along rocky mountain trail, so take care of the proven and comfortable shoes in advance. Such a walk takes about 40 minutes – the trail begins at the end of Nazukin embankment, passes along the Kefalo-Vrisi beam past the Chembalo fortress, and then descends along the southern slopes, so the views that open to the travelers bring unutterable pleasure.
- If you plan visiting to Serebryany beach, you should discover weather forecast: when storm or just in cloudy, rainy weather sea communication between the beach and Balaklava stops, and getting along the wet mountain slopes is slippery and even unsafe.
- Interval between the departure of the Lieutenant Grinko cruise boat is 1.5 hours. Ticket price - 100 rubles, discounts apply for privileged categories and children. Private cutters also run to the Serebryany and Zolotoy beaches. The more often run, but take no less 6-10 passengers.
