Olenevka beach

It is located in the western part of Crimea on the Tarhankut Peninsula. Next door is the village of Olenevka, which was formerly called Karadzha in honor of the bay of the same name. In recent years, it has been actively developing as a resort, new infrastructure facilities appear, in 2019 a modern car camping for 1000 places was opened on the shore.

Beach description

The main beach of Olenevka is a three-kilometer coastal strip, covered with snow-white soft sand and washed by the turquoise sea . For its truly tropical beauty, it is called the Crimean Miami or Bounty - for complete resemblance, only exotic palm trees are missing.

The sea in the Karadzhi bay is relatively calm, shallow and very transparent. The entrance to the water is smooth, and the bottom is sandy and safe. Sea temperature can vary - it is usually a little cooler than on the southern coast of Crimea, in the hottest summer months it reaches 26 degrees. Sometimes jellyfish are nailed to the shore, which are quite noticeably stinging. It is impossible to predict their appearance, it all depends on the direction of the sea currents.

The western coast of Crimea is characterized by its winds, which are ideal for windsurfing and kiting. For several years, during the high season, the Windrider Olenevka kite school has been operating on the beach, in which athletes are provided with the necessary equipment and, if desired, the recommendations of experienced instructors.

The cheapest way to get to Olenevka is to take a bus that runs from Eupatoria. The road will take about an hour and a half. It is most convenient to use vehicles - an asphalt road is laid to the village, you can leave the car right near the beach.

When is the best time to go?

Weather conditions in Crimea depend on the place where you will rest: while on the south coast it is relatively warm and humid, then in other places it can be cooler and drier. The period between late May and the first half of July inclusive is considered the ideal time for a trip when the air and sea have already warmed up (23-25 degrees), but the real heat has not yet come. If you prefer warmer weather, pick out the second half of July or early August.

Infrastructure

Due to the increase in the number of tourists in Olenevka, the number of resort infrastructure is growing every year. The rented rooms of local grandmothers are gradually replaced by comfortable apartments, cozy guest houses and modern hotels.

Vacationers can have fun on water rides, ride a jet ski, play beach volleyball or tickle your nerves on a catapult. A special town with inflatable slides and trampolines was organized for children.

The beach is equipped with showers, toilets and cabanas for changing clothes, rescue duty is organized, there is a rental of sunbeds and umbrellas. Ice cream and drinks, as well as boiled corn, pastries, shrimp and oriental sweets can be purchased from local merchants scurrying along the shore. For those who want to eat more thoroughly, a good cafe is provided, which serves dishes of Tatar, European and traditional Russian cuisine.

Useful information

Due to its relative inaccessibility and remoteness, this unique corner of the Crimea managed to maintain the enchanting atmosphere of pristine nature. Between the beach and the village is Lake Liman, which is famous for its healing mud. In addition to free spa treatments on the lake, you can learn to stand on a kite, go fishing and watch rare waterfowl.

To the north of the village is located the Dzhayngulsky mountain area. This wild, deserted place is literally mesmerized by the beauty of steep cliffs resembling figures of fantastic animals. At their foot there is a secret Ocheretay bay, in which "wild" tourists with tents like to stay. An undoubted advantage of this place is a well with fresh water, of the minuses - a ban on bonfires and a pretty impressive parking fee.

To the east of Olenevka is the picturesque tract Atlesh, formed by two capes of the same name - Big and Small Atlesh. They are cut bizarre grottoes and tunnels, which can be seen in many famous films (“Pirates of the twentieth century”, “Amphibian Man”, etc.). You can get to the Big Atlesh by car or bicycle, and to the Small - most conveniently by sea. A sightseeing boat necessarily passes through the famous arch of the Big Atlesh, so that tourists can make a wish, and makes a stop near the legendary Cup of Love, a place of pilgrimage for newlyweds and romantic couples.

And of course it’s worth a walk to the Tarhankut lighthouse, which rises in the westernmost point of the peninsula, is a historical monument and harmoniously fits into the surrounding landscape.
