Beach description

Mramorny is a 100-meter beach in the city if Balaklava. It is covered by fine sand and pebble, and thanks to location at the exit of the bay, its waters are clean even according to the standards of European resorts. This place has the following advantages:

  1. pleasant to touch and comfortable for swimming bottom;
  2. clean air with a flavor of iodine;
  3. perfect cleanliness of the whole shore;
  4. smooth entry to the water and small depth;
  5. high temperature of the water;
  6. low level of theft (compared to other Crimean beaches).

From the sea shore you can see the Ayia Cape, green mountains and the ruins of the fortress of Chembalo. The best place to enjoy landscapes - local pier made of wood. Huge boulders that can be used as a chair also decorate the beach.

Mramorny is one of the most popular beaches of Balaklava. In resort season hundreds of people relax here. If you want to occupie good space then come here at 8-9 in the morning or evening. Bring an umbrella and armchair with you: there is lack of them.

This place is quite suitable for vacation with children, due to small size, shallow waters and remoteness from lively roads. In resort season rescuer teams operate here, who passed first-aid courses. There are no buoys, but you need to pass several dozen meters to reach depth.

Mramorny Beach is a perfect place for swimming, sunbathing, friendly gatherings with a glass of foamy drink. You can also walk along the shore, rent water transport, taste south cuisines and snacks. Lovers of secluded vacation are recommended to go to pier - only there it is relatively quiet and calm. Fish has even nothing to do here.

According to the legend, during the Crimean War, the British frigate “Prince” sank in local waters. In Soviet times the Underwater Expedition Expedition was engaged in its search, but failed. The buildings where researchers and part of their infrastructure were based have survived to nowadays. Some divers try to find the ship even in present time. Such a high interest in the sunken ship is simply explained - its holds are filled with gold and silver, which were paid for military service.

Interesting fact: Mramorny is not the only name of the beach. It is also named sailor coast (in honor of the people who served here) and EPRON (abbreviation of the The Expedition of Underwater Works of Special Purposes).

One more feature of Mramorny is the lightness: rocks do not close the beach in the morning, and after 5 pm the sun sets in the gleam of a ravine. Here you can sunbathe even longer than on other beaches of Tauride Embankment.

When is the best time to go?

Weather conditions in Crimea depend on the place where you will rest: while on the south coast it is relatively warm and humid, then in other places it can be cooler and drier. The period between late May and the first half of July inclusive is considered the ideal time for a trip when the air and sea have already warmed up (23-25 degrees), but the real heat has not yet come. If you prefer warmer weather, pick out the second half of July or early August.

Useful information

  1. Near the beach Chembalo is located - Genoese castle, built in the XIV-XV centuries. The fortress several times passed from hand to hand. In addition to the Italian colonists, it was owned by the rulers of the Principality of Theodoro and Ottoman. In 1783 Russian soldiers settled here. At first, they used the fort as a garrison, but after several decades Chembalo was abandoned due to the loss of strategic importance.
  2. The castle was badly damaged during the Second World War, after the war it was not rebuild. Thanks to that, it retained the authenticity and atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Nowadays on its territory restoration works are held. Experts plan to preserve the beauty that has reached us and begin the restoration of collapsed donjons.
