Cocoa Island beach

Cocoa Island is a small picturesque island hotel, part of the Maldives archipelago. It is located in the Equatorial part of the Indian ocean on the South Male Atoll. From Male International Airport it's possible to get to the island by speedboat or seaplane, the transfer will take no more than forty minutes.

In the beginning of 80's the Cocoa Island was belonged to the famous artist and photographer Eric Klemm. He found this island during one of his photo shoots and fell in love with it from the first sight. Klemm decided to create an eco-friendly resort for people looking for peace and tranquility alone with unspoiled nature. He built four wooden bungalows with natural furniture and roofs made of palm leaves, which became the basis of the future hotel. Twenty years later, the lease expired, and the artist returned to the mainland, and the island passed into the hands of the company COMO Hotels & Resorts, which continued his endeavor.

When is the best time to go?

Maldives – is an equatorial country with a tropical climate, where the weather is always warm at + 27-30ºС. But the islands have some seasonal features. From mid-April to the end of October it often rains here. The dry season lasts from November till April. At this time, the initially clear sea becomes completely transparent, and the sun illuminates in the sky 12 hours a day.

Important: A large amount of plankton is collected in October and November off the coast, which is why the ocean takes on a slightly unclear hue. On the other side – plankton illuminates the sea at night, creating an indescribable picture. At this time, coastal waters are filled with stingrays – fabulously fascinating creatures that are in no way inferior to the dolphins.

Infrastructure

From the South the island is surrounded by 36 detached bungalows in form of traditional fishing boats, standing under the water on special piles. All of them are connected with with thin wooden bridges and resemble a fishing pier with moored ships. Each of these pretty huts contains isolated luxury apartments decorated in a colonial style. All the furniture is wooden, only natural materials are used for the upholstery and decor. All rooms are provided with free Internet, air conditioning, TV with big screen and a bathroom with a full set of necessary hygiene products. From each "boat" on a special ladder visitors can go directly into the water, and from the open deck offers a fantastic view of the ocean.

There is a luxurious Ufaa restaurant on the territory of the hotel, where South Indian and European cuisine is served throughout the day, using fresh, eco-friendly ingredients. There is a special menu for vegetarians. Also guests can visit Faru Bar where fine cocktails are served.

In the Cocoa Island wellness and yoga classes are offered daily, as well as a gym and spa. Towards sunset, a variety of entertainment events and traditional Maldivian parties are held on the beach or in the garden.

Hotel guests note the highest level of service and sensitive attitude of the staff. Perhaps, this justifies the considerable price for the room, which starts from 1000$ per day.
