Velassaru Island beach
Velassaru Island is a private coral island in the South Male Atoll, surrounded by picturesque beaches and coconut groves, the emerald green of which looks impressive against the backdrop of the incredibly clear aquamarine waters of the lagoon. It is located about 12 km from Male Airport, it takes about 25 minutes by boat to reach. Beach description
This luxurious resort surrounded by tropical greenery, from a height of flight it resembles an elongated droplet. Its length is 400 m with a width of 200 m (the whole island can be bypassed in just 20 minutes), and the coral reef begins as early as starting from 60-70 m from the beach. The resort center is a picturesque shallow lagoon, ideal for swimming. Near it are located villas surrounded by tropical vegetation, which complements the feeling of being on the territory of a personal uninhabited island.
Among the features of this resort, the following nuances can be noted:
- most of the local beach is an extensive strip of white sand on the shore and at the bottom;
- some sections of the beach are equipped with sun loungers and parasols;
- in the shallow waters many colorful fish and crabs swim, and on the beach you can see many different birds;
- a clean and well-groomed island is literally immersed in the variegation of various colors;

On the coast of this island, sea turtles make babies, what gave the name to the resort. “Vela” in translation from the local dialect means precisely these reptiles. There is a marine biologist on the island who can conduct interesting excursions with an ecological bias.

When is the best time to go?
