Kuramathi Island beach

Kuramathi Island is a rather spacious island where outdoor recreation is perfectly combined with a large number of modern amenities. Located in the atoll Rasdu, it is almost 60 km from Male. You can visit Kuramathi year-round. Transfer by seaplane takes 20 minutes. The entire length of the island (1.8 km) is rampant with rich vegetation. Romantics will be fascinated by a walk at sunset along the long sandy spit that goes into the ocean.

Beach description

Among other resorts on North Ari Atoll, Kuramathi Beach is on second place. The sand spit is also one of the longest in the Maldives. Home Reef offers great snorkeling. Both land and the bathing area are strewn with white sand.

In addition to the amazing white sand, tourists are struck by the colorful nature of the island: romantic lagoons, shady lawns, an abundance of fragrant tropical flowers. Colorful bungalows occupy a place at the very edge of the water, some of them are built on stilts above the water. All of them are made from natural materials only.

Tourists note the incredible transparency of the water and a very green area. The two opposite sides of the island are different. On one, where it is always quiet and calm, beaches and villas are located, the other, where it is more windy, takes seaplane flights. There are restaurants and is great sunset.

Kuramathi is full of all living creatures. Flying foxes fly overhead, herons come very close. Flocks of small fish shimmer in the water, followed by sharks, also mantas and stingrays swim. The reef, like everywhere else in recent years, does not feel very well, but there is hope that it will recover.

You can go snorkeling alone or in the company of other tourists and a guide, if you order an excursion. Some are lost when they are near a reef shark or a ramp; a decent cold flow is felt along the reef. When you are swimming on the reef through the passages, it is advisable not to be at low tide. Flippers are required. For beginners, the best place is at the main pier.

Because of the size of the island, you can walk through it for half a day, admire all the wonders of flora and fauna, and you can even ride a transport. It’s possible to visit any part of the resort by buggy, you just have to wave your hand - they will take you where you need to.

Newlyweds, families with some experience and children come to rest on Kuramathi. Older children, of course, will be more interested.

When is the best time to go?

Maldives – is an equatorial country with a tropical climate, where the weather is always warm at + 27-30ºС. But the islands have some seasonal features. From mid-April to the end of October it often rains here. The dry season lasts from November till April. At this time, the initially clear sea becomes completely transparent, and the sun illuminates in the sky 12 hours a day.

Important: A large amount of plankton is collected in October and November off the coast, which is why the ocean takes on a slightly unclear hue. On the other side – plankton illuminates the sea at night, creating an indescribable picture. At this time, coastal waters are filled with stingrays – fabulously fascinating creatures that are in no way inferior to the dolphins.
