Kanifushi Island is one of the first Maldives resorts to offer tourists an all-inclusive paradise. It is part of the Lhaviyani Atoll and is located at a distance of half an hour by seaplane flight from the country's main airport (about 120 km from it). Kanifushi is a long narrow island on the western outskirts of Lhaviyani, surrounded by a vast natural coral reef and impressive with a long two-kilometer beach with snow-white powdery sand. The all-inclusive resort appeared here in 2013, and since then it has been gaining more popularity every year among vacationers who want to enjoy maximum comfort at relatively affordable Maldivian rates.
This is one of the longest resort islands in the Maldives, and its elongated shape provides excellent privacy for vacationers. Along the turquoise lagoon are separate villas to accommodate guests of the island. All houses are located right by the water, which provides access immediately to the beach, the width of the sand strip of which from villas to water is 50 m. The distance between neighboring villas is at least 4 m. All housing is divided into 4 categories:
- villas for couples (with an area of 100 sq. m.), located in the center and on the outskirts of the island;
- combined two villas for the company (with an area of 200 sq. m.);
- secluded junior suites on the outskirts of the island (area 132 sq. m);
- Deluxe suites for VIP accommodation (area 192 sq. m.), including a private pool (30 sq. m.) with a beautiful view of the lagoon.
The width of the island is about 100-150 m. The widest part is located on the southern edge of the island, where its main infrastructure is concentrated, and the narrowest is located on the northern. The beach is most picturesque in the northern part of the island, where the snow-white sandy coast is surrounded by a shadow of emerald palms and other dense tropical vegetation.
One side of the island is surrounded by a reef-protected lagoon, the second by the open ocean, from the powerful waves of which the Kanifushi shore had to be further strengthened by huge boulders. It is possible to swim only in the lagoon.
When is the best time to go?
Maldives – is an equatorial country with a tropical climate, where the weather is always warm at + 27-30ºС. But the islands have some seasonal features. From mid-April to the end of October it often rains here. The dry season lasts from November till April. At this time, the initially clear sea becomes completely transparent, and the sun illuminates in the sky 12 hours a day.
Important: A large amount of plankton is collected in October and November off the coast, which is why the ocean takes on a slightly unclear hue. On the other side – plankton illuminates the sea at night, creating an indescribable picture. At this time, coastal waters are filled with stingrays – fabulously fascinating creatures that are in no way inferior to the dolphins.

Infrastructure
To accommodate guests on this resort island there are 132 villas, the area of apartments in them is from 100 to 200 sq.m. All of them are distinguished by spacious rooms, decorated in the best Maldivian traditions and equipped with a spa bath. In the summer of 2019, it is planned to create overwater villas in the resort.
- There are several restaurants on the island to cater for guests, including one vegetarian, which was one of the first to be opened in the Maldives.
- Two other restaurants offer dishes of different cuisines, including grilled ones, as well as a wide selection of different drinks. One of them is located on the remote outskirts of the island and has a swimming pool.
- There is also a Japanese-style grill bar on the island and the hotel’s main bar, where you can enjoy a variety of cocktails.
The resort has a separate pool for children and a kids club, it is possible to order babysitting services. This is the reason, why this island is well suited even for families with kids (from 4 years old). Adults can relax with spa treatments or visit one of the island's two pools.

- The rocky seabed is observed only on the western edge of the island, and in other places it is sandy. Entrance to the water is almost everywhere safe, but for those who are afraid to run into coral with their feet, rubber slippers are provided in the rooms.
- Guests of the resort are offered a wide selection of entertainments, including various boat excursions, romantic boat trips at sunset, deep-sea night fishing by boat and exciting diving safaris. It is possible also to rent kayaks for coastal walks along the lagoon or windsurf. Also on the island there are billiards, tennis courts, a gym.
- The rich fauna of the local coral reef and the clear waters of the lagoon create excellent conditions for snorkeling and diving in Kanifushi. Here you can take full courses and learn how to dive under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
- Bicycles are available at the resort, and you can explore the whole island during an exciting bike ride along it. There are also electric cars to move around the island.
