Beach description
Kanifushi Island, a slender stretch of paradise in the western fringes of Lhaviyani Atoll, is encircled by a vast natural coral reef. The island boasts an impressive two-kilometer stretch of beach with snow-white, powdery sand. Since the all-inclusive resort opened its doors in 2013, it has steadily grown in popularity among travelers seeking the ultimate comfort at relatively affordable Maldivian rates.
As one of the longest resort islands in the Maldives, Kanifushi's elongated shape ensures exceptional privacy for its guests. Dotting the turquoise lagoon are individual villas, each offering immediate access to the beach, where the sandy expanse stretches 50 meters from the villas to the water's edge. The villas are spaced at least 4 meters apart, ensuring seclusion. Accommodations are categorized into four distinct types:
- Villas for couples (100 sq. m.), nestled in the heart of the island and along its periphery;
- Combined villas for groups (200 sq. m.), perfect for company retreats;
- Secluded junior suites (132 sq. m.), situated on the island's outskirts for enhanced privacy;
- Deluxe suites for VIP guests (192 sq. m.), featuring a private pool (30 sq. m.) and a stunning lagoon view.
The island's width ranges from 100 to 150 meters. The southern edge, home to the island's main infrastructure, is the broadest, while the northern tip is more tapered. The beach is particularly picturesque in the northern part, where the pristine sandy shores are framed by the shade of emerald palms and lush tropical vegetation.
One side of the island is caressed by a reef-sheltered lagoon, while the other faces the open ocean. To protect the Kanifushi shore from the ocean's powerful waves, it has been reinforced with massive boulders. Swimming is recommended exclusively in the lagoon.
Best Time to Visit
The Maldives, with its idyllic beaches and crystal-clear waters, is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. This period is characterized by lower humidity, less rainfall, and plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for sunbathing, snorkeling, and diving.
- November to April: This is the peak tourist season, with perfect weather conditions for beach activities. The sea is calm, offering excellent visibility for underwater adventures.
- May to October: Known as the monsoon season, this period sees more rain and stronger winds. However, it's also a time when the islands are less crowded, and resorts may offer lower rates.
For those seeking the ultimate beach vacation, timing your visit during the dry season ensures the most comfortable and enjoyable experience. However, if you're looking to avoid crowds and don't mind occasional showers, the off-peak months can also be a great time to explore the Maldives' natural beauty.
