Vihamanaafushi has captivated tourists with its breathtaking flora and fauna, distinctive zoning, and unique architecture, making it an enchanting destination for those seeking a beach vacation in the Maldives.

Beach description

Welcome to Vihamanaafushi Island, an idyllic destination for a beach vacation. Nestled amidst the coconut palms that flourish here, the private island resort of Kurumba has been a pioneer since 1972, laying the foundation for an entire industry within its lush tropical gardens and along its dazzling white sandy beaches.

Over the decades, Kurumba has earned its reputation as a beloved resort, thanks to its crystal-clear waters, shielded by a house reef lagoon, outstanding service, and a vast array of experiences.

Originally launched as a typical tropical village, Kurumba underwent a transformative upgrade a few decades ago. Today, vacationers are welcomed to a world-renowned resort, complete with all the luxurious amenities one would expect.

The island attracts a diverse crowd, from newlyweds and senior couples to small groups and families with children. The coastline is bifurcated, with one section reserved for VIPs - such as heads of state, prime ministers, or celebrated actors - who enjoy the seclusion of duplex villas with private beaches, bungalows, and confidential rooms.

Here, tranquility reigns supreme. With no raucous parties or noisy discos, and without anyone imposing their presence, it's a sanctuary for those who cherish peace and unity with nature.

The beach is exceptionally comfortable, free of stones and corals, boasting soft sand that is especially appreciated by families with children. The nearest corals are a mere 20 meters away, where vibrant fish dart about, and occasionally, dolphins grace the nearby waters. At night, the ocean comes alive with the glow of plankton - a mesmerizing sight. The water level remains relatively constant, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience near the beach and pool, which are maintained with impeccable cleanliness.

Dotting the beach beneath the palm trees, you'll find loungers, beanbag chairs, and plush mattresses with pillows. Tables are also available, where guests can dine while soaking in the breathtaking views.

Discovering the Ideal Time for Your Visit

The Maldives, with its idyllic beaches and crystal-clear waters, is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. This period is characterized by lower humidity, less rainfall, and plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for sunbathing, snorkeling, and diving.

  • November to April: This is the peak tourist season, with perfect weather conditions for beach activities. The sea is calm, offering excellent visibility for underwater adventures.
  • May to October: Known as the monsoon season, this period sees more rain and stronger winds. However, it's also a time when the islands are less crowded, and resorts may offer lower rates.

For those seeking the ultimate beach vacation, timing your visit during the dry season ensures the most comfortable and enjoyable experience. However, if you're looking to avoid crowds and don't mind occasional showers, the off-peak months can also be a great time to explore the Maldives' natural beauty.

Infrastructure

Initially, the resort offered only 30 rooms, the walls and roofs of which were constructed from local, improvised materials such as coral stone and palm straw. Now, guests are accommodated in 180 rooms that are renovated annually.

The Kurumba Maldives, a 5-star sanctuary nestled amidst lush greenery and vibrant flowers, resembles a botanical garden. It provides spacious, comfortable rooms with daily housekeeping. The staff is exceptionally helpful and attentive to every detail, including Russian-speaking personnel.

The bathrooms, almost open to the stars, are equipped with the resort's own brand of shampoos and gels. The pristine pool offers various depth options. Adults can indulge in the spa, billiards room, gym, and yoga classes. Additional entertainment includes a karaoke bar and exquisite night fishing. Nearby, guests can encounter 6-meter manta rays, numerous turtles, and schools of tuna. The diving experience near Vihamanafushi beach is distinguished by its almost endless visibility.

Children are well-cared for by nannies and can enjoy a dedicated pool. For young travelers aged 3 to 13, there is a kids' club. At restaurants, children have access to a special menu and high chairs.

The island boasts an array of restaurants where guests can savor more than just exquisite dishes, including a diverse "buffet." There are 10 different ways to prepare eggs, and the variety of other offerings is too extensive to list. In the evenings, themed restaurants serve signature dishes, always featuring fresh seafood and unimaginable desserts.

A shop is available on-site. At sunset, beach parties come alive with folk dances, coconut juice, and the signature 'kurumbakolada.' A cherished tradition is the Sunday evening welcome for new guests. A lottery offers delightful complimentary prizes such as a spa visit or a bottle of champagne.
