Beach description
The enchanting tale of the Lion Cub and the Turtle is more than just a whimsical cartoon - it mirrors reality. Such turtles grace the waters surrounding Kandolhu Island, a secluded paradise within the archipelago. With a mere 30 villas, this private island offers an exclusive and comfortable retreat.
The sand here is as pale and fine as powdered sugar. The beach adjacent to the villas undergoes meticulous cleaning two to three times daily, ensuring the island's pristine condition.
Kandolhu Island is a sanctuary where noisy festivities are eschewed, and while children are indeed present, their playful antics are subdued. Each guest enjoys private beach access from their sand-situated villas or steps directly into the ocean from the overwater accommodations. This island is the quintessential haven for those seeking to bask in the company of a select few, amidst an ambiance of tranquil indulgence.
For those celebrating new beginnings, the island offers bespoke programs for honeymooners, including idyllic wedding ceremonies set against the backdrop of the lagoon or on the powdery beach itself.
A vibrant ocean reef, a mere 3-5 minute journey away, beckons snorkelers. But the aquatic spectacle isn't confined to the reef alone. A stone's throw from the shore, schools of vivid fish dart about, amiable turtles glide through the water, and even sharks and stingrays make a serene appearance.
Upon arrival, guests are presented with a special GoPro camera to capture their underwater adventures. The footage and photographs are later provided on a USB flash drive as a keepsake. The diving center boasts state-of-the-art equipment and expert instructors, with successful participants earning a certificate.
Optimal Season for Visiting
The Maldives, with its idyllic beaches and crystal-clear waters, is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. This period is characterized by lower humidity, less rainfall, and plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for sunbathing, snorkeling, and diving.
- November to April: This is the peak tourist season, with perfect weather conditions for beach activities. The sea is calm, offering excellent visibility for underwater adventures.
- May to October: Known as the monsoon season, this period sees more rain and stronger winds. However, it's also a time when the islands are less crowded, and resorts may offer lower rates.
For those seeking the ultimate beach vacation, timing your visit during the dry season ensures the most comfortable and enjoyable experience. However, if you're looking to avoid crowds and don't mind occasional showers, the off-peak months can also be a great time to explore the Maldives' natural beauty.
