Veligandu Island beach
It is located on the North Ari Atoll, which is part of the Maldives archipelago. Veligandu Island Resort & Spa is located here, which is the oldest on Maldivs. It was founded in 80's and to this day it is considered one of the most fashionable and expensive resorts in these places. In 2014, it was completely renovated, including major repairs of water bungalows, most exposed to the destructive effects of the local climate. Another feature of Veligandu is the unique underwater lighting; at night the reef shimmers with colorful lights, which creates a truly fabulous atmosphere.

Beach description
The island is a narrow strip of land, stretched to the North and South. It's only 600m long and the entire area covers 8.9 hectares. At the southern end, far out in the sea, there is a sandbank, which gave the name to the whole island ("veligandu" - spit, shoal in the language of Divehi). This is one of the best beaches of the island, equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, Thundi beach bar and panoramic outdoor swimming pool.
The shore is surrounded by picturesque, densely populated with exotic underwater inhabitants, reef. It has a small passage through which turtles, manta rays and other rare marine fauna enter the lagoon. Also on the beach people can often see herons, which proudly strut on the white sand.
In the evening there are discos, maldivian traditional parties and other entertaining events. The bar is round the clock and offers variety of beverages and light snacks.
The Northern beach is more intimate and sparsely populated and is surrounded by water bungalows on all sides. Wooden pierces are comfortable to watch the underwater world and to feed fish with bread crumbs. In the distant Water Villas is an Athiri Bar with an amazing ocean view. From its open terrace, ladders descend into the water, so visitors can combine pleasant gatherings with water entertainment.
The Northern part of the island goes into the center of an atoll, so there is no wind and the sea is calm and quiet. On the first line there are luxury Jacuzzi Beach Villa, each of them has an own personal piece of beach. The main bay of the Western side is an ideal starting point for scuba enthusiasts, there is a diving center and sports equipment rental.
The Eastern part of the island goes into an open ocean, so people here can meet tortoises, moray eels, stingrays, reef sharks and dolphins. The reef here is more tighter, and the streams are more powerful, so that should be noticed by beginners in scuba diving. On the first line there are luxury villas with their own beaches and leisure areas, cheaper bungalows are located in 100m from the shore along the palms and mangrove.
From Male Airport people can get to the island by hydroplane in just fifteen minutes.
When is the best time to go?
Maldives – is an equatorial country with a tropical climate, where the weather is always warm at + 27-30ºС. But the islands have some seasonal features. From mid-April to the end of October it often rains here. The dry season lasts from November till April. At this time, the initially clear sea becomes completely transparent, and the sun illuminates in the sky 12 hours a day.
Important: A large amount of plankton is collected in October and November off the coast, which is why the ocean takes on a slightly unclear hue. On the other side – plankton illuminates the sea at night, creating an indescribable picture. At this time, coastal waters are filled with stingrays – fabulously fascinating creatures that are in no way inferior to the dolphins.

The main aim of the hotel is a romantic recreation for newly married, they make up more than half of all guests. To create perfect conditions, the resort administration don't allow children under 18.
The resort offers 90 individual rooms which are located in beach and water bungalows and are equipped with all necessary things for comfortable leisure. Many of them have outdoor hot tubs with panoramic views. All apartments have Wi-Fi, TV, mini bar and coffee machines. Guests can use free towels, slippers, bathrobes and a full set of necessary hygiene products. Every three weeks, the rooms and the surrounding area are treated with mosquito nets.
During the reconstruction, the world's leading designers participated in the redevelopment and decoration of the premises. Special attention was paid to the newlyweds ' apartments, which are equipped with an open-air jacuzzi, picturesque verandas with blooming orchids and gardenias, and stylish furniture sets with king size beds.
There are two restaurants, one of which has smorgasbord system, and the second one has A la carte menu. Also there is Room Service in the hotel (ordering food and drinks in the room) and an opportunity to organize a romantic dinner on the beach.
On the territory there is a spa, fitness and several sportsgrounds. There is a currency changing point and small excursion bureau where people can order tours to other archipelago islands.
