Acharavi beach

Acharavi is a long, picturesque beach in a small but cozy resort on the northern outskirts of Corfu. Initially, the settlement was named after Hebe-the goddess of youth, but later it was destroyed, rebuilt and renamed. The modern name, inherited from the renamed settlement and the beach, means "destroyed youth". Tourists from Germany especially love this beach , and interestingly, young people rarely rest here, so to some extent the name justifies itself.

Beach description

Acharavi is a 7 km long beach which is part of a resort of the same name that is open all year. It's considered one of the most popular beaches on the island. Almyros Beach is located just nearby (2 km away). Sandy shores are very similar, which makes it hard to discern where one beach ends and the other begins. You can get here by bus or taxi.

The beach is covered with grainy white sand. Descent is smooth and not deep, and the water is warm which makes it a good spot for a journey with children. It's always warm and sunny here, with rains and storms a very rare occasion. This beach is ideal for family or romantic travels. Staying here is great for those who want to relax in a calm place near a clear warm sea.

There are many visitors. The water here is warmer than on the western beaches, which is a huge attraction. The resort is surrounded by flora, so you can always find a spot to hide from the sun. You can smell citrus in the air, and the smell of blossoming almond is noticeable during spring.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

For landscape lovers photography there are many wonderful views.
