Barbati beach

You won't encounter any fish, seaweed and, most importantly, any garbage here. Calm weather and waters are the features of this beach. The beach is surrounded by olive gardens, orange trees and rhododendrons. An amazing view of the Pantokrator mountain opens up from here.

The beach is located in the northeast of the island, in an area of the same name. You can get here from Gouvia by bus. A tour bus goes from the airport to Kerkyra train station, and a green A5 bus (Barbati-Nissaki) from there will take you to the center of the resort. If you take a blue bus, you'll stop in Ipsos. But you can easily work to the beach from there. Taxi or rented car are good alternatives to public transport.

The beach is covered in big white pebbles bathed by waves. Tourists with children should note that the descent is steep. Overall, this place is for those who like calm atmosphere without loud crowds. No beach parties are held here, but there are cozy taverns where you can try a fish meal or drink a glass of local wine.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
