Beach description
You won't encounter any fish, seaweed, or, most importantly, any garbage here. The calm weather and tranquil waters are hallmarks of this beach. It is ensconced amidst olive groves, orange trees, and rhododendrons, offering an amazing view of the Pantokrator mountain.
The beach is situated in the northeast of the island, in an area sharing its name. You can reach it from Gouvia by bus. A tour bus travels from the airport to the Kerkyra train station, and from there, the green A5 bus (Barbati-Nissaki) will take you to the resort's center. If you take a blue bus, you'll stop in Ipsos. However, you can easily walk to the beach from there. A taxi or rented car provides good alternatives to public transport.
The beach is adorned with large white pebbles caressed by the waves. Tourists with children should be aware that the descent to the water is steep. Overall, this place is perfect for those who prefer a serene atmosphere without the clamor of loud crowds. No beach parties are held here, but you will find cozy taverns where you can savor a fish meal or enjoy a glass of local wine.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to visit Corfu for a beach vacation is typically between late May and early October. This period offers the ideal balance of warm weather, sunny days, and comfortable sea temperatures for swimming and water activities.
- Late May to June: This is a great time to enjoy the beaches with fewer crowds and pleasant weather. The sea might still be a bit cool, but the island is lush and beautiful after the winter rains.
- July to August: These are the hottest months, perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the warmest sea temperatures. However, this is also the peak tourist season, so expect more crowded beaches and higher prices.
- September: The weather remains warm, but the crowds start to thin out, making it a good time for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience.
- Early October: This can still be a good time for a beach vacation, especially in the first half of the month, as the weather is generally still warm, but the chance of rain increases as the month progresses.
Ultimately, the best time for a beach vacation in Corfu depends on your preferences for weather, water temperature, and crowd levels.
