Ipsos beach

Ipsos, a beach in Greece imbued with Italian charm, has long since become a beloved vacation destination for Italians. Its name, translating to "height," may have been inspired by the ancient Greeks' reference to the village's perch upon the hills overlooking the sea - a characteristic that has since been bestowed upon the beach itself. Visitors flock to Ipsos for its unforgettable diving experiences and lively beach parties that last until dawn. For enthusiasts of vibrant beachside celebrations, Ipsos stands out as one of the premier spots along the Corfu coastline.

Beach description

The Ipsos Beach is located on the northeastern shore of the island, approximately 14 kilometers from the capital. This idyllic spot is nestled in a crescent-shaped bay, flanked by hills adorned with olive and citrus groves. The location boasts favorable weather and ideal conditions for a memorable vacation.

The sea at Ipsos is typically tranquil, free from tumultuous waves. The expansive shore is a blend of sand and pebbles, while the seabed is purely sandy. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag on multiple occasions, recognizing its pristine shore and crystal-clear waters. The gentle slope into the sea makes Ipsos one of the safest beaches in Corfu for families with young children.

Ipsos is a delightful destination that caters to:

  • Visitors who revel in nightlife and enjoy beach parties;
  • Families with children who are fond of swimming;
  • Nature enthusiasts who appreciate scenic landscapes;
  • Adventurers keen on water sports.

Families with children typically frequent the beach in the mornings, while water sports aficionados tend to arrive in the afternoon.

The only drawback is the beach's proximity to the road. In some areas, the beach narrows significantly, resembling a continuous line of deck chairs. Those seeking solitude may prefer to explore other locations on the island.

When is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit Corfu for a beach vacation is typically between late May and early October. This period offers the ideal balance of warm weather, sunny days, and comfortable sea temperatures for swimming and water activities.

  • Late May to June: This is a great time to enjoy the beaches with fewer crowds and pleasant weather. The sea might still be a bit cool, but the island is lush and beautiful after the winter rains.
  • July to August: These are the hottest months, perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the warmest sea temperatures. However, this is also the peak tourist season, so expect more crowded beaches and higher prices.
  • September: The weather remains warm, but the crowds start to thin out, making it a good time for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience.
  • Early October: This can still be a good time for a beach vacation, especially in the first half of the month, as the weather is generally still warm, but the chance of rain increases as the month progresses.

Ultimately, the best time for a beach vacation in Corfu depends on your preferences for weather, water temperature, and crowd levels.
