Dassia beach
Dassia is a picturesque beach in the center of the eastern outskirts of Corfu, just 12 km from the capital. The name of the settlement translates as "forest", which is not surprising, given the lush vegetation in its vicinity. The olive groves surrounding this Corfu beach give the coast a picturesque look of emerald cut gemstone and allow hiding from the scorching sun.

The Dassia Beach stretches quite far, but it's only about 1-2 meters wide. The shadows cast by citrus and olive trees protect from the heat of the sun. The beach is covered with golden sand mixed with pebbles. Pebbles on the sea bottom may be big in size, so it's recommended to wear slippers.
The beach's advantages include:
- smooth descent into water and safe shoreline;
- clean sandy surface with pebbly patches;
- the Blue Flag mark awarded only to the top beaches;
- a warmer sea than in the west of the island;
- well-developed infrastructure (you can rent sunbeds, umbrellas and more)
The beach is popular among tourists of all ages. But the most frequent guests here are families who want to enjoy a calm and solitary atmosphere. Perfect conditions to bring children too. Young visitors can also be often seen here as there are many night clubs nearby.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Around 40 accommodation options are available. There are hotels both in the very center of this resort and closer to the sea. Some hotels have their own private beach sites. Still, options of apartments and guest houses for rent still prevail. Dwelling farther from the sea is cheaper but the service is the same everywhere.

Cafes and taverns serving dishes of various cuisines are located not on the beach but in the village itself. Although, the beach is very narrow, so there is rather a small distance between it and the village where one can find various bars and cafeterias, stores and souvenir shops. The presence of night clubs and bars on the resort made this beach the especially popular place for youth who enjoy hot parties and discos. The club with the paradise name of "Eden" is the most popular.
There is a wonderful dive center right on the beach. Moreover, infrastructure here allows engaging in different water sports activities. You can rent everything you need for water games, starting from diving equipment and water ski and ending with sea tours on motor boats. People who love extreme sports will enjoy parasailing here.
