Agia Fotia beach
The place is located about 15 kilometers east of Ierapetra on the Libyan Sea coast of East Crete (not to be confused with the town of the same name on the north coast and Agia Fotini in the west of the southern coast). The beach is named after the nearby church of Agia Fotini. Ierapetra can be reached by bus or car. There are buses from Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos to Ierapetra.

Beach description
the beach is covered with gray sand, sometimes with small pebbles. It stretches along the coast of a small and beautiful bay, covered from winds by rocks. This is a popular holiday destination for locals and foreigners. It is known for beach volleyball tournaments (there is a special playground). The entrance to the sea is gradual, without ledges; the bottom is level, safe, the depth is medium; the water is transparent and calm. Marine life is found in the bay, making it suitable for snorkeling.
There are several hotels and tavernas Nearby. On the beach itself there is a rental of umbrellas and other accessories, there is a bar which is famous for marine cuisine and wine. Surrounding nature are varied. Platans, olive trees, pine trees, thickets of cane, and in the eastern part of the beach a spring beats, water from which can be drunk. More developed tourist infrastructure can be found in the resort town of Kutsunari, 5 km along the highway to the west.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
