Kalyvaki beach
The beach is located in the southwestern corner of Almyros Bay, near the resort town of Georgioupolis, named after Prince George, the ruler of independent Crete in the late 19th century. You can get here by buses running between the administrative centers of the prefectures, including from Heraklion.

Beach description
the Kalivaki Beach begins north of the town and stretches between the mouths of the Almiros (through which the bridge is transferred) and Vlihada rivers. It is completely equipped. There are umbrellas and other infrastructure. The cover is sandy with rare flat stones. The water is clean and cool due to the keys beating at the bottom. The bottom is level, safe, with a gradual increase in depth. From the wind, the beach covers low mountains and the bend of the coastline. Big waves appears seldom here. You can relax with the children.
Town is quiet and cosy. It has many hotels and rented rooms, taverns and snack bars. Among the houses grow eucalypts, planted here at the setting up of once wild and swampy terrain. At the mouth of Almyros there is a harbor, where pleasure boats and fishing ships are defended. From the sights- the chapel of St. Nicholas, which is located in the middle of the sea on the stone, to which the dam leads- a wonderful place to take a photo for memory.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
