Vai beach
It is located on the north-eastern tip of Crete on the Sideros peninsula, a kilometer from the village of the same name. The nearest major city - Sitia - is located more than 25 kilometers along the highway, which is mainly a mountain serpentine. There are buses from the city, but experts recommend renting a car or scooter, as the buses come only a few times a day.

the Beach became famous after filming the Bounty commercial, famous for its date palms: palm grove and its inhabitants are even protected by environmental legislation. It is forbidden to put tents, raise fires, leave garbage on the territory. However this beach is well-developed. There is a paying parking, rent of accessories for rest (deckchairs, chair lounges, umbrellas), cafe, snack bar, cabins for dressing, shower. The beach is free cost.
There is a viewing platform on the rock. Due to the beauty of the species, the place became popular among tourists of all ages, so it is usually crowded here. The beach is mostly sandy, partially pebble. The water is clear and transparent. The bottom is not smooth, sometimes you can find stones. Fish are caught in the water, so it is recommended that lovers dive. On the way to the beach there is a banana farm with a market where you can buy fresh fruits of local production. Three kilometers are the ruins of the Minoan city of Ithnos.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
