Filaki beach

Located 3 km from the village of Sfakion on the south coast of Crete. It is the only official nudist beach on the island. The most interesting is, that there is even a permitted (that is, licensed) naturalist tavern in which staff also walk without clothes. More friendly to nudist beach in Greece can not be found.

Beach description

It is the pebble beach with rock formations, also situated under water. The beach itself is protected from wind from all sides, so waters near the water edge are calm and even, without any strong waves. The water entry is smooth sloping but rocky, so special swimming shoes will be useful. Water is clean and transparent, of bright blue color with greenish shade. In summer months, its average temperature is +25 °C.

The beach is popular among the nudists. At the same time, the beach is not wild– Filaki has the well-developed infrastructure: it has parking lot, water closets, bars, sling chairs, and umbrellas. It is situated in the area of the convenient transport interchange, but it is non-crowded due to its secluded location. If you live in Sfakion, you can get to the beach on feet. If not, rent a car, or take public transport going from Hania to Hora-Sfakion daily at 2 pm.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
