Fragokastello beach
The beach is located in the western part of the island on the Libyan Sea coastline, a dozen kilometers east of Chora Sfakion. Regular buses run from the major cities of Rethymno and Chania to the town and port of Chora Sfakion. It is recommended to take a taxi further to Fragokastelo. You can get there on your own by car.

Beach description
There are some beautiful beaches, the largest of which is Fragokastelo proper. The water is clean, clear. Bright and small sand. The entrance to the sea is gentle, convenient for rest with children. The sea is calm, with the exception of perhaps August. Tourists infrastructure is well-developed. Rent umbrellas, chair lounges, there is a shower, there are several tavernas. There are several mini hotels in the village where you can stay.
Nearby is Orti Ammos - another beach, this time wild, with beautiful sand dunes. Here are also the pebble beaches of Vatalos and Kutelos. The first with a steep shore is popular with divers with a mask or scuba. Second beach is wild and uncrowded. Beaches should be visited at the same time as sightseeing. The most significant of them is the Venetian castle of the 14th century. There is also the Anapsis cave, located just a short distance away, next to the Kutelos beach.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
