Istro beach
Another variation of the name is Istron. A village on the northern coast of Crete, built on the site of the supposedly Minoan city of the same name, is located dozens of kilometers from the metropolis and the port of Agios Nikolaos. Buses run from there to Istro, and the journey takes 15-20 minutes.

the Beach is located at the very depth of Mirabello Bay. Here the bay is divided into a series of bays that have several high-class beaches. Among them are the Istro proper, as well as Woolisma. Near the village there are several more beaches of not so famous and crowded - Karpavosstasi (pebble) and Agios Panteleimonas (sandy). They are located along the banks of the bay and on the peninsulas, which divide them.
Istro Municipal Beach is located right next to the village on the shore of the same bay. The beach is small, sandy, sometimes pebble. The sea is transparent, warm, the bottom is flat and even.
Infrastructure is well developed there: umbrellas, sun loungers, cafes, equipment rental stations. In addition, there is a rental of boats, boats, diving school. There are a lot of people here. It is recommended to visit this place as early in the day as possible: at 7 or 8 a. m. Many hotels are located in the village itself and in neighboring villages. From the nearest attractions, visit Gurnia: There you can see the ruins of the palace complex of the Minoan era, and nearby are the ancient cave graves of Sfungaras.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
