It is located near the eponymous Cape of Western Crete, on its southern coastline. About 10 kilometers east of Suyi and just as much west of Agia Roumeli. It is located in the protected forest area of Lefka Ori. Highways are not paved here, and unpaved driving is dangerous. There is the European hiking trail E4 nearby. You can get there by driving to the nearest point on a boat (taxi boat) from Hora Sfakion.

Beach description

the Beach is pebble, stony, almost wild. There is only a small tavern nearby. All supplies are better to carry with you. Usually, lovers of active recreation and hiking appears here- they camp in tents or trailers. Despite the distance, the beach is crowded in the season. The bottom is hollow, the water is transparent and clean, and the color is dark blue with a green tint.

There are many scenic spots around. One of the trails leading to the beach is a gorge with steep rocks almost closing overhead. Wild life of the mountain. Caves on the Filakas cape. Nearby is a church called Panagia Tripitii, built in a cave. On the mountain (near the tavern) there are ruins of the settlement of the Minoan era, which should be viewed.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
