Agiofarago beach
The place is located 80 kilometers from с 20 kilometers south of Matala, not far from the southernmost peninsula of the island. You should go to Hodegetria (Theotokos) Monastery by car. The highway ends there, a dirt road leads to the beach along the gorge, along the bed of dried rivers. Here you can drive only by sport-utility vehicle, but it is better to walk and enjoy the beautiful view: the gorge was overgrown with olive trees and oleanders.

Beach description
the beach is partially sandy, partially pebble, very clean. It is framed by beautiful rocks hanging over the water and forming an arch. Great place for selfi. The bottom is hollow, convenient for water access. The sea is calm even in windy weather, the water is clean and transparent. Tourist infrastructure is completely absent. There are no sources of fresh water (except one in the church), so it is recommended to take stock with you.
In this place it is allowed to pitch a tent. Nudism is not welcomed for religious reasons. Of the sights, the main thing is actually the Holy Gorge, according to which the terrain is named. Here there are many caves dug or once settled by hermit monks. Here is also the ancient church of St. Anthony with a source of fresh water, it is partly built inside the mountain, and partly outside.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
