Beach description
You Can Drive to the beach by car through Elounda village, where the isthmus begins. And also you can get it by boat. The bay stops sightseeing flights departing from Elounda and Plaka to the Venetian medieval fortress Spinalonga, located on the island of Calidón.
The beach is completely wild. There is no tourist infrastructure even nearby. You'll have to take care of it yourself. The nature is terrific. Small groves, mountains. Beach and bottom of the bay are covered by sand. Clean turquoise water is well warmed by the sun. Flat bottom, comfortable and safe for children. The sea is calm, covered with excitement by the banks of the bay and the island.
Usually there is a little crowded here, but there are peak hours when ships stop with tourists. Therefore, at the height of the season, the beach often overflows with people. From the gentle mountains there are good views of Kolokif and Mirabello Bay. There are ancient salt ponds on the isthmus.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
