Domata beach

One of the most pristine parts of the island. These places are separated from the rest of Crete by the Lefka-Ori mountain range (which translates as the White Mountains) and therefore it is difficult to get to them. The beach is located about 50 kilometers west of Chora Sfakion, away from highways. There is E4 hiking trail nearby. You can get there (on foot) or by boat (taxi-boats) from Choral Sfakion or from intermediate piers.

Beach description

the Beach is located at the end of the mountain gorge, which descends from the tourist trail. It is totally devoid of any infrastructure. There are no umbrellas, no sun beds, no hotels, no tavernas. But that place attracts the fans of "wild" rest. All necessary things should be taken with you, especially drinking water and shelter from the sun. Around the picturesque nature of overhanging rocks, stones and pines. The beach is partially covered with small pebbles, partly black sand. The bottom is deep, the sea is often wavy, and the weather is windy. Children can only be bathing with rescue equipment. Domata Beach is a great place to enjoy snorkeling and walking on the trail.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
