The coastline is divided into several excellent sandy beaches – the best of which is North Beach. From there, a large rock separates it from South Beach. Further to the south lies the third small beach, almost adjacent to the famous palm forest and the beach of Vai. The sea is tranquil, clean, and the entrance is ledge-free, with an even and safe bottom. All three beaches lack tourist infrastructure: there are no tavernas, hotels, beach accessories, or swimming equipment. There are scattered date palms that provide shade, but finding a free spot beneath them is not always guaranteed.
Hotels and restaurants are located in Palekastro, 7 kilometers to the south. En route, one can discover a farm and a market offering local fruits. The ruins of the ancient city are situated along the shore within the archaeological zone, and they extend beneath the sea. Amidst the ruins, colorful fish can be observed, making the area ideal for diving and snorkeling. Artifacts unearthed during the Itanos excavations are displayed in the Sitia Museum.
