Paleohora beach
Resort town in western Crete. It is located on a narrow peninsula that extends far into the Libyan Sea. You can get here by regular bus from Heraklion, Rethymnon or Chania, by rented car, taxi.

Beach description
The Peninsula forms two strips of beaches that stretch for many kilometers. On the western side they are predominantly sandy (but here it is more windy), on the eastern side - pebble. All beaches are within walking distance from the village where you can rent rooms or stay at the hotel. There are also several campsites where you can put tents or a trailer. This makes Paleochor a real tourist center. All kinds of active rest on the sea are developed here, including fishing and walks on yachts. Diving and windsurfing are popular there.
the town has a well-developed infrastructure. There are a lot of taverns, restaurants, bars, malls. Evening life is very active both in the city and on the beaches. In addition, there are banks, car rental stations. From the local port there are ferries to the island of Gavdos and to the wharf of the southern coast. All the facilities on the beaches including rental of the accessories. Water is clean without waves. The bottom is flat with a comfortable approach, which is suitable for recreation with children (especially good in this sense the beach of Gialiskari). There are a few wild and secluded beaches for the lovers.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
