Barranco das Canas beach

Barranco das Canas will allow you to relax completely. Storms are rare in these places, the bay is protected from winds by a labyrinth of rocky reefs and part of a rock massif. On the beach, in the mountain gorges, there are several natural pools with sun-heated water. Children are happy to splash into them. Lush vegetation along the shore (reed plantations, olive groves and pine groves) is the ideal habitat for many species of birds.

The underwater kingdom of a quiet harbour will surprise by many rocky grottoes. The rescuers work on the beach during the peak season (from May to October), ensuring safety of diving and snorkelling fans. After the seabed exploring, you can have a meal in the beach snack bar and have a few hours of relax on white and fine, like sugar, sand.

Barranco das Canas infrastructure is well developed. It includes parking, toilets, beach equipment rental, bar-restaurant with regional cuisine and a hotel.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
