Ilha Deserta beach

The literary translation of this beach name is "Unpopulated island". It is really so because the island where the beach is situated has no permanent residents. Ilha Deserta Beach stretches for 7 km, so this length and virgin nature are its highlights. It is a sandy beach with very soft and fine sand pleasant to bare feet. Water is crystal clear. It is so clear that you can even see shells of the ocean bottom.

Beach description

This island has no houses and hotels at all. The only building is the local restaurant Estamine serving the n=best dishes in Portugal. The easiest way to get to Barreta island is from Faro because ferries go regularly between it and Porta Nova pier. This beach is loved not only by flamingos and storks, for its location on their migration way, but also by nudists for its "savage" and secluded nature. Except tasting various mussels and fish, guests can try surfing and sailing.

When is it better to go?

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
