Bordeira beach

Bordeira Beach is a continuous 3-kilometer coastline indented by cliffs and surrounded by huge dunes. The beach is considered one of the wonderful surf spots in the Algarve and the most beautiful beach in southern Portugal.

Beach description

Usually it is not crowded on the beach. It mainly has young surfers, as well as lovers of the harsh romance of the Atlantic Ocean. North and north-west winds lift waves during the hours of the surf with a height of 0.6 to 3.6 meters. Mostly the sandy bottom makes surfing safe, but novice athletes are advised to adequately assess their capabilities. You should be warned and remember that rocky places come across underwater in the middle of the beach.

A bar and lifeguards work in Bordeira from May to October. Overlooking the rocky coast, the beachfront restaurant serves guests year-round. Here you can have lunch and dinner, ordering, for example, freshly prepared grilled fish. There is enough parking space on the beach, both on a rocky hill and below, at the foot of the hills.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
