Beach description
The long beach line is covered with a thick layer of sand. The descent is smooth and the bottom is sandy. The ocean is turbulent, the waves are high. The water is cool. It's quite risky to swim, because there are strong rip currents along the coast. Windy. The territory provides all the attributes of beach holidays:
- showers,
- toilets,
- paid deck chairs and umbrellas,
- lifeguards,
- a restaurant.
Zavial was awarded the Blue Flag multiple times. This is a perfect place for lovers of outdoor activities. Zavial is suitable for windsurfing, kitesurfing and parasailing. The beach is not too crowded, as the length of the beach allows vacationers to find free areas for a quiet stay. There is a zone for nudists in the eastern end, in the shadow of a young eucalyptus grove. Not far from the beach, there are the ruins of Fort of St. Ignatius.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
