Carvalho beach

Carvalho Beach is located in a hard-to-get-to secluded bay surrounded by huge rock formations in the Carvoeiro area.

Beach description

The short coastline at the foot of reddish-brown rocks is covered with fine light sand. The descent is smooth and the bottom is sandy. The water is warm and calm. It's windless. There are no objects of infrastructure or lifeguards. You'll need to bring mats, umbrellas, food, drinks, snorkeling or diving equipment.

You can get to Carvalho by car using the navigator; there is a dirt parking lot nearby. You can also reach the beach through a long tunnel cut into the rocks or sail to the beach by boat. Because of the inaccessibility of Carvalho, it's almost always deserted. Sometimes you can meet there lovers of extreme and local fishermen. It's not advisable to go to the beach with young children.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
