Beach description
Large soft sand area rests on three cliffs, shimmering in the sun. Hence the beach name, which means “Three fortresses”. The purest water allows you to discover the bottom to detail and avoid sharp stones. Rocky ridges, framing the beach area, serve as a natural shield from the winds. The availability of sun loungers, umbrellas, rescue service and several restaurants provides visitors comfortable carefree holiday.
Tres Castelos, located three kilometers from Portimao, provides travelers with a convenient place to park near the road. Therefrom narrow steps lead directly to the beach. There are several panoramic restaurants on the rocky hill. Local and italian dishes are served here.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
