São Rafael beach
There is a nice little beach Sao Rafael four kilometers from Albufeira. This wonderful nature corner is a must-visit destination for most tourists visiting the Algarve area. The beach is surrounded by fantastically beautiful bright orange rocky formations standing out against the sand.

Beach description
In summer, São Rafael is divided into two sections: area with sun loungers (left) and section with umbrellas (right). The influx of tourists is relatively small compared to other resorts in Albufeira. But it can be quite crowded in peak season. The proximity of the city has its advantages: many vacationers head to Albufeira for dinner and entertainment after a day on the beach.
The water surface at the beach is characterized by perfect transparency, which creates ideal conditions for swimming and snorkeling. However, do not forget about strong courses, especially on the left side of the beach, and sharp rocky ledges. Surfboards and kayaks can be rented at Sao Rafael beach. Qualified instructors are available at the disposal of inexperienced water sports fans.
you can get to the beach by private car, but you need to come here early in the morning to have enough time to take a parking space on the rock. Parking is free. You can walk to the beach, going down the steps constantly .
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
