Mareta beach
Mareta is one of the busiest beaches in the Algarve. This is partly due to its proximity to the village of Sagres, which is considered to be a symbol of the navigation of Portugal. However, not only navigational traditions fuel the interest of travelers. Mareta attracts them with its golden sands, stretching for almost 800 meters, and rocky capes, providing shelter from the stormy winds.

Beach description
Mareta Beach, located on the south side of the bay, does not suffer from a lack of sunlight. It will be an excellent choice for those who love to sunbathe, admiring the blue sea and rocks painted in red, green and gray colors. Mareta is suitable for surfing, windsurfing, diving and kayaking. Moderately large waves make the beach not only an ideal place for mastering extreme water sports skills, but also it is the only beach that is sufficiently protected for surfing in the winter months.
You can go down to the beach using a steep staircase. Three restaurants along the coast offer the usual assortment of light snacks, from hamburgers to seafood. Extras include seasonal rescue services, toilets and several parking lots.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
