Camilo beach
Camilo is a small beach in the bay around Lagos, located at the foot of the picturesque limestone cliffs. There is a restaurant above the beach, which gave Camilo its name. A long staircase leading to the beach has several flights which have recreation areas set up on them.

The beach is divided into two sections of 50 m each, between which there is a rock with a canal that has been dug inside. The coast is covered with fine golden sand. The entry to the water is gentle and long. The bottom is sandy and flat. There are a lot of stones in the water on the west side. The beach is very popular and crowded. During the peak season, it's better to arrive early, as there may be no available spots left by noon. A lot of tourists and locals from Lagos and the surrounding cities. It is comfortable to have vacation with children here. Thanks to the rocks that protect the beach from high waves, the water of Camilo is calmer and warmer than elsewhere on the coast. People bring folding deck chairs, umbrellas, food and drinks with them. There are no showers, toilets, changing cabins, cafes or bars.
Camilo is suitable for quiet and active recreation. You can go snorkeling, diving, scuba diving by the coastal rocks. A lifeguard is on duty, from whom you can buy drinks and rent an umbrella.
Camilo is one of the most beautiful beaches of the coast, surrounded by rocks not only on the shore but also in the water. In clean, transparent water, you can see all the details of the bottom. Boats float between rocks of bizarre shape with picturesque grottos and caves.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
