Falesia beach

Falesia is a narrow strip of white sand that stretches for as much as 6 kilometers between the high orange cliffs and the turquoise ocean. The beach is considered one of the natural attractions of the region, it can be seen in the lists of the most beautiful beaches of the world.

Beach description

This part of the coast is not only unusually beautiful, but also very convenient for recreation by the sea. The beach is quite long and consists of kilometers of light soft sand. In this place the coast seems to be simply endless, there is a lot of space by the water.

Descent from the rocks to the beach is carried out using a long wooden staircase. Right under it, there are always a lot more holidaymakers than at some distance from the main descent. If you want, you can go even further and get to completely deserted areas.

The beach is 20 meters wide and the sand gradually turns into the bottom. The depth increases slowly, so the water in Falesia warms up very well. The big bonus is that there are no stones at the bottom.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.

Infrastructure

Falesia is not exactly a wild beach, there are deck chairs and sun umbrellas for rent. Other amenities (showers, toilets) are not available here, as well as services of lifeguards and medics. As for the sport and swimming equipment, there are catamarans that you can rent. The only downside (especially for holidaymakers with children) is the too steep staircase leading from the road down.

Not far from the beach, on top of a cliff, there is a luxurious 5-star Pine Cliffs Hotel. Other hotels in this area are also in the high price range.
