Beach description

Senhora da Rocha is a popular holiday destination among both locals and tourists. A proof of the cleanliness and safety of this beach is the Blue Flag awarded to it. The beach is about 150 meters long and about 60 meters wide. The cliffs on the borders of Senora da Rocha represent a natural protection from the wind and create the effect of a secluded bay. The entire space for relaxation by the water is clean fine sand, which smoothly turns into the ocean floor. This beach is popular with many tourists (including families with small children), as it is not only spacious, but also well-maintained.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.

Useful information

One of the local attractions is right on the beach. This is a chapel left from an ancient fort. The building stands on one of the rocks rising above the beach. Every year, in early August, an ancient image of the Virgin Mary, stored in the church, is taken out of the chapel to the sea. It is a traditional holiday in which guests can take part on the beach.
