The beach line is about 5 km long, covered with clean, light sand and stretches from the delta of Odiáxere and Arão rivers to Alvor Beach. The entry into the sea is gentle with a long shallow water, the bottom is sandy. The water is warm and calm in windless weather. It's windy mostly in the afternoon. The beach is suitable for family holidays and active entertainment. Wooden decking and ramps for wheelchairs and strollers are provided for convenient access to the territory. Water sports centres, where you can rent equipment, are concentrated in the western part. There is a surf school.
Meia has excellent infrastructure. There are paid deck chairs and umbrellas. Several bars and restaurants are open on the beach. The beach is very popular with locals and tourists, but isn't crowded due to its long length. Among the holidaymakers, there are many families with children, elderly people, young people. Surfers and thrill seekers often gather here. Kiteboarding, parasailing, water skiing are available. At the eastern end of the beach, which is quite deserted, there is a nudist zone.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
