Bačvice beach
Bačvice is the most beautiful and well-equipped city beach of Split. It's located in a picturesque sandy bay, in immediate proximity to the port and only 1 km away from the center of this Croatian resort. Its convenient location, picturesque views and developed infrastructure have made it the most attractive place for a beach holiday of Split.

Beach description
The width of this beach of Split is about 600 m, about 200 m of which is taken by sandy part and the rest of the area is asphalted promenade. The Bačvice coast is sandy and particularly clean, as is the transparent sea with turquoise waters. Combined with the developed infrastructure this allowed the beach to get the Blue Flag mark, which only adds to its popularity – it's almost always very crowded and noisy.
The Bačvice coast attracts visitors of various age groups:
- excellent conditions for a holiday have made this beach of Split a true couples' favorite;
- a considerable area of shallow water and a very gentle entry into the water allows you to safely vacation here, even with babies;
- the resort's loud discotheques and bright nightlife attract young people here as well.
Despite the beauty and amenities of the beach, it has some disadvantages. Concrete blocks protruding from the water can be found in some places near the shore, and a lot of algae can be thrown out on the coast during strong waves. During the season it's very crowded, so it's not the best place for lovers of privacy.
When is the best time to go?
Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.

Infrastructure
On the coast of Bačvice, you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers, or you can choose a comfortable spot on the beach, put your towel and lie on it. Except in summer it's better to come here early in the morning to find a free spot near the sea. There are showers and changing rooms at the sides of the beach, but no free toilets.
- Many cafes and restaurants as well as children's playgrounds, an amusement park and discos, are located along the beach coast (especially in the eastern part).
- Near the beach there is a three-storey complex including a restaurant, bar and night club.
- There are organized parking lots on the northern and western edges of the beach.
Bačvice is located in the heart of Split, so you can walk to most interesting places in the central part of the resort. Close to the east entrance to the beach, there is the best hotel in the area – Hotel Park.

- In the heart of the resort town you can visit Diocletian's Palace, the best preserved architectural masterpiece of the ancient Roman era.
- You should definitely book a water trip to the sand and pebble beach of Kašjuni, located on the southern coast of the resort, it's a long coast surrounded by pine forests and coastal cliffs, which are especially popular among lovers of cliff diving.
- The Split marina, where you can rent a sailboat for trips along the picturesque Croatian coast, is also worth visiting.
