Borik beach

Borik beach is a picturesque coastline on the northern outskirts of Zadar, famous for its main urban beach, despite its significant distance from the center (about 4 km from it). Its special popularity among holidaymakers is connected with the excellent infrastructure, providing the most comfortable and diverse beach leisure time. This is one of the best beaches in Zadar for a safe family holiday with the kids, although it is also very popular among young people.

Beach description

Borik's beautiful 1 km beach is a shallow pebble beach with several small sandy areas. Also, part of its coast is covered with concrete slabs, which can be conveniently placed for sunbathing. Pine groves near the coast provide access to natural shelter in the shade of heat, which also adds to the beach's attractiveness.

Borik's principal attractions can also include:

  • crystal-transparent waters of a beautiful celestial shade;
  • the opportunity to admire the colourful views of the Old Town from its shores;
  • Blue Flag mark, which confirms the purity and beauty of this coast and its waters;
  • Availability of diverse water leisure activities attracts young people.

In particular, the Borik coast is popular among holidaymakers with children, which is due to the presence of significant shallow waters off the coast and a very gentle approach to the sea. But it should be taken into account that in this case it is better to choose sandy areas of the beach, where in the sea there is soft sand in combination with fine pebbles. Basically, the seabed is stony, sometimes there are sharp stones, so to avoid injuries swimming without rubber slippers can be dangerous.

While the beach is characterised by the prevailing calm waters when waves form here, it is better not to go into the water to bathe. The main disadvantage of Borik is that it is almost always very crowded and noisy, and its coast is quite narrow. There are so many holidaymakers that sometimes it is impossible to pass between the sunbeds and the towels on the pebbles or sand. Sometimes in the evenings, algae can be nailed to the shore, and jellyfish are often found in the area of the water park.

When is the best time to go?

Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.
