Kašjuni beach

It is situated in the western part of Marjan peninsula, the greenest and the most picturesque one. It is popular among tourists and the locals due to its relative seclusion, crystal clear turquoise sea, and numerous pines on the shore. The sealed road with regular scheduled buses leads from Split to Kasuni. You can also get here by taxi, rented car, or bicycle. A large parking lot located almost by water is provided for personal transport.

Beach description

The beach is situated in a cozy picturesque bay covered with fine pebbles and resembling a giant boomerang. From the southern side, it is protected from high waves and currents with a concrete breakerwater, projecting far into the sea. Joe’s Beach Lounge & Bar, occupying the entire central part of the beach, is located near it. Enormous territory, including the pier, is equipped with umbrellas, sling chairs, and beach beds with canopies. You can have a snack and enjoy your time in a restaurant, or dance to vibrant music in a beach bar which is open until the late night. Joe's Beach Lounge & Bar offers masseur services, as well as the rental of kayaks, catamarans, sapphires and jet skis.

The opposite side of the bay is the quietest and most secluded. The pebbles here turn into rather large boulders, and large stones are also found in the sea. Taking into account that sea urchins like to hide under them, it is necessary to take care of special shoes. There are no sunshades and sun loungers for this part of the beach, so umbrellas can also be brought with you. You can hide from the sun in the shade of the trees, but you have to come as soon as possible.

After the reconstruction in 2016, the beach became extremely popular, so it is quite crowded, especially during the high season (July-August). The main contingent - young people and couples with children. There are a lot of nudists in Kašjuni, who are unofficially assigned to the western part of the beach.

The sea on the Kašjuni is always quiet and crystal clear, with an emerald hue. Safe places for swimming are fenced with buoys, the entrance to the water is the most convenient in the central part, in the summer months there are rescuers on duty. Away from the shore, there are stunning views of the picturesque hills covered with pine and cypress trees.

Access to the Kašjuni is free, but for extra convenience, you will have to shell out. Showers and toilets on the beach are chargeable, and renting umbrellas and sun loungers will also cost you a vast deal of money.

In the high season, "water taxis" leave the port of Split for the beach - the trip will not take more than ten minutes, you can admire the picturesque coastline on the way from the sea. The most pleasant and completely free option is a half-hour walk along the coast. On the way there are absolutely fantastic views of the sea and the surrounding area, and the intoxicating aroma of pine needles and the singing of cicadas will be an additional bonus for active tourists.

When is the best time to go?

Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.

Useful information

Marian Park is a favorite holiday destination for Split residents and guests. In the middle of the last century, the summer residence of the President of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito, was located here. By his order, the park was extensively reconstructed, exotic trees were planted and picturesque alleys were laid out. Bicycles, rollers and gyroscooters can be rented in the park, and there are places for picnics and a "live corner". In the back of the hill, you can find a few ancient churches and semi-destroyed dugouts from World War II, and from the top of the hill, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the sea and the surrounding area.
