Beach description
Ploče is a tiny beach 5 km West of Rijeka. It is located in a small bay, protected from powerful winds and large waves. It is decorated with dense trees, picturesque pier, modern architecture. It offers stunning views of the sea and mountains of Croatia from all parts of the coast. Locals love this place for the following reasons:
- cleanliness. The beach is cleaned several times a day and has a “Blue Flag”. There is no garbage, health hazard objects, algae;
- silence. There are no nightclubs and noisy bars, listening to the sounds of waves and birds singing on this shore;
- colorful pier, fishing boats and small yachts stop nearby;
- peace and environmental friendliness. There are no industrial facilities or densely populated areas near the beach. The local waters are crystal and the air is clean and pleasant;
- safety. There are no sudden jumps in depth, sea urchins and undercurrents. A record low number of offenses are recorded in “Ploče”.
Another advantage of the beach is a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Here you will not be disturbed by street vendors, touts and representatives of travel agencies. There will not dock liners and tourist buses will not stop by. The main group of tourists on the beach are residents of Rijeka, they come here to take a break from the bustle of the city and breathe clean air.
Ploče's main activities are sunbathing and swimming. Also here you can taste the best Croatian cuisine, go fishing, surf, explore the underwater world with scuba or mask. On weekends and holidays hundreds of tourists come here. On weekdays, the beach remains half-empty (compared to the city beaches of Rijeka).
Interesting fact: the strongest wind in Ploče is observed in the morning. If you want to ride a board, come here at 8: 00. Also this place is well suited for sailing.
When is the best time to go?
Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.
