Banje beach

It is located in the southern part of Croatia in the city of Dubrovnik, it is considered to be one of its best beaches. In the Middle Ages, a quarantine zone was set up on its territory for foreign sailors arriving from overseas countries. And now Banje is a popular "party" place with local youth and tourists, so it is always noisy and crowded, and the prices are much higher than on other city beaches.

Beach description

Relatively small pebble beach is divided into two zones - paid and free. The paid zone is right next to the walls of the ancient Hospital, is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and beach beds with canopies, shower, locker rooms and toilets. It is worth noting that you have to pay for everything separately: The entrance costs 2 euros for sun loungers and VIP beds, and even for the use of the shower, you have to pay a symbolic fee with a coin in 1 HRK. There are many cafes and beach bars in this part of the city, the most popular and pathos one is Eastwest Beach Club, where you can often meet representatives of "golden youth", show-business stars, famous sportsmen and other celebrities.

The second part of the beach is more democratic, here you can sit both on paid sun loungers and on your own towels, if you are lucky enough to find a free place. Showers, locker rooms and toilets are the same as in the paid zone, and drinks from bars have to be bought independently - waiters do not serve this part of the beach. But here you can play beach volleyball and mini-football, dive from the coastal cliffs and enjoy the relatively quiet views of the Old Town and the opposite island of Lokrum. The beach offers all sorts of water fun and sports equipment rental. The sea is clean and transparent, the entrance to the water is comfortable and gradual, the bottom is sandy, even and safe.

When is the best time to go?

Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.

Infrastructure

The beach is equipped with parking, which is located near the highway, passing right above the shore. A small stone staircase leads from it, which can be a serious obstacle for disabled people and people with disabilities.

Near the beach there are many hotels, mostly very expensive and pathos. This is not surprising, as the windows offer a magnificent view of the old town, the sea and the island of Lokrum, and the best restaurants and nightclubs in the city are within walking distance. One of the most attractive options in the price-quality category is apart–hotel Emi, located a few minutes walk from the beach of Banje. Nearby are the famous Ploce Gates, the Old Town, the funicular and the Oceanarium. It offers cozy rooms with delightful sea views, kitchenettes, and modern appliances. All furniture is made of natural wood, parquet flooring, decoration is made in the traditional style. The hotel is surrounded by a scenic shady garden with several seating areas, a barbecue corner and a sun terrace. There is a children's playroom, sports ground and underground parking.

Useful information

As is already clear from the description of the beach, the Old Town is located next to it - the main attraction of Dubrovik, its heart and pride. It is better to start acquainting with it from the fortress walls, which offer a fantastic view of the surroundings (pay at the entrance). Going downstairs, it is worthwhile to take a leisurely stroll along the narrow cobbled streets, visit the famous Cathedral of Virgin Mary, look into the Rector's Palace, visit the places where the legendary "Game of Thrones" were filmed. At the end of the tour you should definitely go up to Saint Lawrence's Fort and admire the beautiful views of the city, the bay and the island of Lokrum once again.

The ropeway of Dubrovnik, the only one of the Adriatic coast, is obligatory to visit. The lower station is located in the northern part of the Old Town, and the upper station is on top of Mount Srđ.
