Almograve beach
The dramatic landscape of Almograve is dominated by yellow and black colors. The vast expanse of golden sands alternates here with basalt rock formations. Almograve is constantly exposed to the full power of the Atlantic Ocean. The capes and rocks of this beach have to constantly reflect the massive blows of fierce waves.

Beach description
Almograve is an irresistible place of attraction for tourists who visit the central Portuguese region of Alentejo. Its rugged coastline is included in the protected area of the natural park, so there are almost no signs of human influence besides parking lots. Many budget hostels and restaurants serving traditional Portuguese cuisine are located nearby - within the city of Almograve.
In the northern part of the beach you can find great places for bodyboarding or surfing with big waves and clear water, the quality of which is confirmed by the Blue Flag. The rock pools formed here surrounded by high dunes are teeming with small marine life. At the southern end of Almograve there is a small harbor with fishing boats on the pier.
You need to rent a car in order to get to the beach. Almograve is located 195 kilometers away from Lisbon, 20 kilometers from Odemira (the capital of the region) and 14 kilometers from Vila Nova de Milfontes (the largest coastal city).
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
