Miramar beach

Just 10 kilometers south of Porto lies the small coastal town of Arcozelu with the sandy beach of Miramar. On a rocky beaten-up cape protruding from the beach, there is a local attraction - a 17th-century chapel known as Capela do Senhor da Pedra.

Beach description

The city of Arcozelu is an elite residential suburb of Porto in many ways, with the famous 9-hole golf course, luxurious villas, and mansions.

Miramar itself is considered a public holiday destination, popular with the Portuguese from neighboring areas. However, this beach is not yet very famous as an international tourist destination, which gives its visitors a place to enjoy.

The spacious lagoon attracts swimmers and other lovers of water activities. The water is usually calm and pleasant for swimming in the summer. Here is expanse for surfers in winter - when the waves become large and the underwater cliffs are dangerous. There are several cafes and bars on the beach, as well as awnings, toilets and a private sports club known for its tennis courts.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
